The glittering Tropicana Casino, perched on the Boardwalk at the end of Brighton Avenue, is just stunning. Walking through the gilded doors, you’re greeted with a high ceiling painted with fluffy white clouds against a strikingly realistic blue sky. The multi-level store fronts and vast array of bars and restaurants are secondary to the palm trees sprouting from the center of the floor and fountains gushing waterfalls down their tiled tiers. Casino Player Magazine’s “Luckiest Casino” in 2008, the Tropicana offers gamblers all sorts of traditional table top and Asian games, slots, poker, and its signature Rumba Lounge -- where you can enjoy the luxury of sitting at the bar while simultaneously playing table-top video poker and still maintaining a great view of the entire floor. Plus, the Tropicana’s Turf Club provides racing fans over one hundred monitors to view horse races and sporting events from all over the country.
If gaming isn’t your style, the Quarter Deck at the Tropicana is an entire mini mall within the casino walls including stores (that you can’t find at the Walk!) such as White House Black Market, Swarovski Crystal, Cache, Zephyr Gallery, Salsa Shoes, and Hat Emporium. Plus, the Quarter Deck has an assortment of general stores for all of your basic needs, ranging from news and tobacco at the Old Farmer’s Almanac General Store to branded apparel, cheap sunglasses, and souvenirs at the Boardwalk Corner Store, and even specialty sweets at Godiva Chocolatier and James' Original Salt Water Taffy.
Still not amused? The Tropicana’s live entertainment ranges from grand scale concerts in its Showroom to intimate lounge acts at Tango’s to live stand-up at the Comedy Cabaret. Casino cuisine at the Tropicana consists of zesty tapas at Cuba Libre, rich Northern Italian treats from Il Verdi, classic fine-dining at the Palm, Golden Dynasty’s Cantonese flair, and Red Stone’s Chinese Grill and impressive vodka bar made entirely of ice. If you want a more low-key meal or some traditional bar food, try A Dam Good Sports Bar or A Dam Good Deli, where you can find sandwiches or wings that are…well, damn good.
The Tropicana’s spa and salon offer additional relaxation options after an exhausting day of complimentary beach cabana services or a dip in either the indoor or outdoor pool. And if you still can’t find something to do at this gem of a casino, check out the IMAX movie theater for a show. There is so much to do inside the Trop that you won’t even need to leave the casino throughout the entire duration of your vacation -- unless you decide to make the two minute commute outside to the beach!
