From the furry to the scaly, the two-legged to the four-legged, the winged to the finned, this zoo has it all covered and will delight all ages. Native and exotic animals call historic Cape May County home at the Park & Zoo, where over 200 species are represented across 80 acres. It boasts a carousel and train rides in addition to traditional zoo features that kids and families will adore. Despite keeping up quality habitats and an extensive array of wildlife, the zoo is able to offer free admission seven days a week thanks to tax support, a major plus if you're on a budget but want to give your family a fun, educational day out.

The zoo was established in 1978 when it featured wildlife and livestock local to southern New Jersey. It has since expanded, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2008. Currently the zoo houses cheetahs, lions, tigers, wallabies, bison, anteaters, giraffes, lemurs, flamingos, and more in authentic habitats. A reptile and amphibian house and an aviary are also on site.

The park portion of this destination offers tennis and basketball courts, jogging and cycling paths, and baseball fields. Freshwater fishing and nature trails are available. Families can enjoy the playgrounds and picnic facilities on hand (including open-pit barbecues).

Located about 30 minutes from downtown Atlantic City, Cape May County Park & Zoo offers a day of respite from the busy tourist areas of AC and is ideal for a family outing.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated, and the zoo provides membership packages if you would like to offer ongoing support. Donations are also accepted online at the zoo's website.
