Now home to the Atlantic City Historical Museum and the Atlantic City Art Center, the Garden Pier opened in 1913 featuring splendid Spanish Renaissance architecture and beautifully landscaped gardens, an elegant destination "uptown" of the crowds that were quickly turning downtown into a frenzied vacation spot.

Costing a whopping $1 million to build, the pier included the elegant B.F. Keith's Theater that rivaled any of those on Broadway, and hosted big names including the great Irish tenor John McCormick and the John Phillip Sousa band.

In 1954, the pier was rehabilitated and expanded to include a large concert and band shell with seats for 1500 spectators, extensive landscaping and an elaborate fountain.

Visitors can enjoy both the Atlantic City Historical Museum and the Atlantic City Art Center with free admission.
