After the heart-pounding excitement of the casino floors, visitors to Atlantic City can plunge into any number of area spas for some much needed rest and relaxation. Just like every aspect of the city, the spas specialize in excess -- excessive luxury and pampering, that is. Most visitors won't even have to leave their resort to find a spa, which is likely only an elevator ride away. Guests of the Caesars Resorts can replicate the experience of Roman baths at Qua Baths, while guests of the Chelsea revel in the healthful benefits of sea salt at the Sea Spa. Massages, facials, body wraps, manicures -- whatever your preference, Atlantic City offers plentiful opportunities for reaching relaxation nirvana.

Larimar Aveda Salon and Spa

Larimar Aveda Salon and Spa

When you're fully exhausted by the numerous shops at the Pier at Caesars, stop by the Larimar Aveda Salon and Spa for a refresher. Services such as manicures and facials come in a wide range of prices and depth of treatment, catering to a wider clientele than other Atlantic City spas. Guests choose from five types of massages, from the Swedish to the Sports, to target their specific relaxation and health needs. For an even more personalized experience, guests select their own aroma blend to accompany the massage.

Larimar boasts an extensive array of styling and coloring services for women, men, and children at prices typical of an upper-end salon. In addition to the standards, the salon provides unique services such as bio-ionic hair straightening, hair extensions, and brow and lash tinting. Getting one of these treatments isn't likely to be a whim purchase by a bored shopper, as hair extensions run up to $2,000.

To help guests become beach ready, Larimar has a long list of waxing services as well as the Ceremony of the Sun body treatment, where skin is first exfoliated then smoothed over with Sun Source tanning lotion. Other exclusive offers include personalized spa packages and weekly specials such as men's discount day on Tuesdays.

Bluemercury Spa

Bluemercury Spa

Nestled amidst the shops of the Quarter at the Tropicana, the bluemercury spa glows like a beacon of wellness and relaxation. While considerably smaller than neighboring spas, bluemercury does not skimp on its extensive list of offerings. The standard selections, including numerous facials and massages, are priced at the typical going rate, around $100 to $150 for 50 minutes. To create luxurious body treatments, bluemercury employs high-end, natural products, many of which are available for purchase onsite. The energizing citrus scrub, the hydrating honey shea body wrap, and the tension-relieving mineral therapy are just a few of the ways to escape into relaxation and rejuvenation for an hour or so.

Guests of the spa will leave feeling like a load has been lifted off their shoulders, though their wallets may feel considerably lighter as well. To replicate the spa experience in their own homes, guests are presented with a wide range of top-quality products in the apothecary. Several of the brands featured include Molton Brown, Acqua di Prima, and Kiehl's. The impressive selection of body moisturizers, scrubs, hand treatments, and other products boast prices that match their quality, so savvy shoppers should know in advance what they're looking for to avoid over-spending. A stop at the bluemercury apothecary, though, is a good opportunity for guests to load up on essential beach supplies such as self-tanner and sunscreen.

Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa

Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa

Located within Harrah's Resort, the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa soothes the casino-goer's soul after a long day at the slots. The Red Door Spa creates an oasis of relaxation for hotel guests, other tourists, and area residents within its 23 spa treatment rooms, salon area, Jacuzzis and saunas, and relaxation lounges. Harrah guests can select various special deals offering spa credit along with a room in the hotel.

All incorporating aromatherapy techniques, the diverse range of massages includes deep tissue, hot stone therapy, and the Red Door Signature massage, which includes facial acupressure and foot reflexology. Prices start at around $130 for 50 minutes and increase in price for more time or more involved techniques. To really layer on the luxury, spa packages bundle several spa and salon services into a full body treatment and make a great gift idea for either women or men.

Focusing not only on relaxation but also health, the Red Door Spa offers body treatments for more than a skin-deep feeling of well-being. Wrapping your body in mud, seaweed, and butter might sound unsavory, but these treatments draw out toxins and impurities, replacing them with moisture and minerals. As a crowning gesture, guests have a selection of facial, manicure, pedicure, and salon services at their fingertips. As with the massages and body treatments, facial and nail services are beneficial beyond the superficial level, incorporating products to refine skin in the long run. Since these aren't your average strip mall offerings, prices start at $50 for manicures and around $150 for facials.

Vive Day Spa

Vive Day Spa

With plenty of room to grow, Vive Day Spa and Salon encompasses 3,500 square feet on the second floor of the Showboat Casino Hotel. Along with traditional spa and salon services, Vive Spa recently introduced their Signature Seashell Massage and Signature Seashell Facial, becoming the only spa in the region with these services.

Drawing upon the healing principles of a hot stone massage, the Seashell Massage features Cowrie and scallop shells dipped into warm oil then laid across the body to contour and revitalize. The rejuvenating Seashell Facial entails cleansing, exfoliation, mask, and serum customized to the client's needs. The treatment is topped off with a seashell massage for the face, a process particularly helpful for cooling the face and reducing puffy eyes. This unique massage is $125 for 50 minutes and the facial runs $115 for 50 minutes.

Vive Day Spa and Salon offers some of the best deals in Atlantic City on simple services such as manicures, starting at $25, and waxing, ranging from $15 to $85 depending on the size of the area. Prices increase for more involved treatments, such as massages and body treatments, but do not surpass the average cost in the area. The featured massages are standard fare, including the Swedish massage and Custom Stone therapy.

The spa's customized facials and body treatments rely upon medicated gels to target issues such as acne, aging and detoxification. Those interested in more natural products may want to look elsewhere, but people concerned with eliminating a specific problem will likely find a solution at Vive Spa.

Sea Spa

Sea Spa

Spanning across 10,000 square-feet, the Sea Spa at the Chelsea resembles the ocean in both its size and, well, its saltiness. Salt and Sole, a fusion of salt crystals and water, have long been regarded for their detoxifying and restorative qualities. Adhering to alchemist traditions, the Sea Spa uses the healing powers of saltwater in a majority of their body treatments. Some of the salt-soaked treatments include the Dead Sea Salt Exfoliation, the Sea Side Massage, and various manicures and pedicures featuring salt exfoliation.

The inspiration of their seaside location appears in all of the Sea Spa's unique offerings. Instead of synthetic materials, the spa embraces the restorative properties of all natural ingredients. Algae, marine sediments, and mud are a few of the peculiar materials that provide surprising benefits in treatments such as the Mermaid Secret and the Miracle Mud pedicure. The Spa also has a seasonally heated saltwater pool, sure to loosen the muscles of even the most unlucky gambler.

Immersion Spa

Immersion Spa

Take a lap around the Water Club Hotel and its Immersion Spa and you'll realize you dove into pure luxury. Surrounded by wall-to-ceiling windows with unparalleled ocean views, guests feel as if they are on top of the world.

In addition to the endless skyline, every inch of the Immersion Spa experience is sopping in an enticing mixture of calm and decadence.
