- Join BNAN and MA DCR to see the salt marshes of the Neponset River in Dorchester develop an eerie orange glow as illuminated jack-o-lanterns float down Davenport Creek. The 10th Annual Great Pumpkin Float will take place on Saturday, October 22nd, 2011. Participants are invited to bring a 6 - 8 inch pumpkin that has been carved at home to the park to be mounted on a special individual float. Each jack-o-lantern will have a candle inserted and lit before being launched en masse in the water. Floats and candles are provided.

- 27th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Faneuil Hall in Boston is coming up this Saturday, November 19th, 2011. Come out for live holiday entertainment all day starting at 11am, store and restaurant holiday specials, bell ringers, holiday choir groups, dance troupes, celebrity appearances and more! There will also be appearances by the Boston Ballet Nutcracker Characters and photo opportunities with Santa. The tree lighting starts at 5pm.

- Handel's Messiah at Symphony Hall: December 2 - 4, 2011

Artistic Director Harry Christophers returns to Symphony Hall to lead the Handel and Haydn Society’s Period Instrument Orchestra and Chorus in Handel’s Messiah in the 158th continuous year of performance since H&H began programming the work annually in 1854. H&H presented the work to sold-out audiences in 2010, and this season features a stellar collection of North American talents.
The 157th annual performance will take place on December 2nd, 3rd, & 4th, 2011 and will be broadcast by Classical New England.
