Celebrate the traditional festival held annually in Munich by drinking large amounts of beer, and eating large amounts of hearty food, including hendl (chicken), potato pancakes, sauerkraut and schweinsbraten (roast pork). 33rd Annual Harvard Square Oktoberfest & HONK! Festival Parade: October 2, 2011: Join the HONK! Festival Parade leaving Davis Square at noon and arriving at the 33rd Annual Harvard Square Oktoberfest at 1pm to "Reclaim the Streets for Horns, Bikes and Feet!" on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011. After, ascend to new heights with bird's-eye-views of Oktoberfest inside the Re-max Hot Air Balloon located in the Cambridge Common! Bring the kids for kid sized events and activities on Church Street, including a Thomas the Train ride around the square, and more. As always Oktoberfest features six stages of live entertainment including a main stage in the Super Crosswalk, a Club Passim Stage, a showcase of music in the Church Street Parking Lot, and a HONK! Encampment and several HONK! Band Stages throughout the festival. 50 plus international food vendors and several beer gardens will be dispersed throughout the Square to quench your thirst and satisfy your food desires! 22nd Annual Harpoon Octoberfest: September 30 & October 1, 2011: The 22nd Annual Harpoon Octoberfest - one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in New England, is a festival of beer, music, and Fall in New England at the Harpoon Brewery. The event will feature a wide selection of fresh Harpoon beer including IPA and UFO Hefeweizen, plenty of German food sold by a local guest restaurant, the best Chicken Dancing this side of the Alps and the famous keg bowling game, three stages of music including New England’s premiere German Oompa bands & much more!
