Not every restaurant has enough sizzle to inspire a hot television show. If you have a hankering for an enormous burger and a longing for the good old days, pull up a bar stool and let Cheers put you in a good mood.

Before Cheers became a hit comedy series, the Bull & Finch Pub, as it was previously named, was a favorite local watering hole. Television producers scouting out the best bar in Boston in the early 80s found its bartender, Eddie Doyle, entertaining. Doyle's humor and sports interest helped inspire the characters of the cast of Cheers. They each eventually received an Emmy for their part in one of the most successful television shows of all time.

In order to feed its hungry fans, Cheers has expanded from its original location in Beacon Hill to a second restaurant at Faneuil Hall. When choosing between locations, consider that it was the Beacon Hill location where a shot of the exterior of Cheers was taken for the opening sequence of the television show. And since it is just steps from Boston Commons and the Freedom Trail, you could easily walk off that extra basket of fries. On the other hand, the interior of Cheers at Faneuil Hall is an exact replica of the television show set. At this location, shopping provides the ideal beer belly workout in the bustling atmosphere of Quincy Market, the most popular tourist destination in Boston.

With occasional live music and happy hours Monday through Friday from 4-6 pm, Cheers provides the quintessential pub experience with just the right amount of Hollywood flare. More environmentally conscious than your typical restaurant and bar, Cheers is committed to serving food whenever possible that does not contain GMO ingredients, antibiotics, or trans fats. They even compost food waste. And if you were about to feel bad that the bartenders don't actually know your name, you may be contented to know the company cares enough to have raised millions of dollars for children's charities.

Both restaurant locations are a clearing-house of Cheers memorabilia. But if you don't want to haul your breakable Cheers beer mug around with you on your trip, you can order merchandise on the website instead.
