Located in the commercial hub of downtown Hyannis, the Cape Cod Mall is the only shopping experience of its kind on the peninsula. From frenzied Christmas shopping to the lazy Sunday afternoon, the mall has been the go-to meeting point for many a Cape Codder since 1970.
In past years, classic retail icons, the likes of Filene’s and Woolworth, inhabited shop fronts along Main Street, Hyannis. On Route 132, the Hyannis drive-in theater was the main draw for teenagers on weekend nights, and Storyland theme park stood at the site of the current mall. With the mall’s construction, department stores moved in along with a new theater. Currently, the mall incorporates 88 stores, 10 restaurants and a 12-screen stadium-style Regal Cinema. Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Sears and Macy’s serve as the mall’s anchor stores and the only remaining original tenants are a CVS, Sears and the mall barbershop.
The Cape Cod Mall now features Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister Co., Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret and many more. The food court serves up a variety of quick eats, from pizza and Chinese take-out, to gourmet sandwiches and smoothies. A large and festive carousal shines center-stage in the food court, a must-ride for children. If you’re looking for a casual dining experience, the mall is also home to Not Your Average Joes and T.G.I. Friday’s.
