- The Newport Oktoberfest is promised to be the most authentic Oktoberfest in the area, taking place over the weekend of September 23rd - 25th, 2011 on the Newport Riverfront. The event will be in the Munich Oktoberfest style of large Fest Tents sponsored by German Beer Breweries. Each tent will have food, beer and music. Participating restaurants include Wertheim’s and others. There will also be continuous live German entertainment.

- The Fountain Square Turkey Bowl is set for Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011 from 11:30am – 1:30pm. Wondering what Turkey Bowl is? You can bowl frozen turkeys on the Fountain Square ice rink, because it’s silly and fun and supports a good cause. The person who knocks down the most bowling pins in three throws will win $50 cash, a DVD of the classic “Turkeys Away” episode of WKRP in Cincinnati, and a trophy. In 2010, nearly 150 people participated, and James Weiler of South Fairmount won with a score of 20 out of 30.

- To follow up the Halloween season, Broadway in Cincinnati is presenting “Wicked.” For 25 days, the Aronoff Center will be transformed into the Land of Oz, long before Dorothy got there. This dark and captivating musical, adapted from the fascinating Gregory Macguire novel, tells the story of Elpheba (aka The Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (aka The Good Witch), only this time, it’s from a different perspective. As young women, Elpheba and Glinda are good friends.

- Light Up the Levee Holiday Light Show: November 22, 2011 - January 2, 2012

Newport on the Levee’s Holiday Light Show, Light Up the Levee, will illuminate the exterior Riverwalk from the Gallery Building to the Newport Aquarium featuring LED lights dancing in synchronization to holiday music. 18 impressive shows will take place daily beginning at 6:10pm, every 20 minutes with the last show at 11:50pm. The animated lighting shows will run November 22, 2011, through January 2, 2012.
Over one million lights comprise the Levee’s holiday package this season. - View Event >
