In close proximity to the affluent residential neighborhoods of Montgomery, Indian Hill, and Madeira, and just a 20-minute drive from downtown, Kenwood Towne Center is one of the most popular and upscale shopping centers in Cincinnati. Located at the busy intersection of Montgomery and Kenwood Roads, and close to I-71 and Ronald Reagan (Cross County) Highway, this shopping area has everything from big department stores to fresh produce from local farmers.

The flagship store in the mall is Nordstrom. This recently added, upscale department store sells exclusive designer apparel and accessories, and hosts a neat little casual bistro, appropriately called Cafe Bistro. Macy's and Dillard's also have a large presence here. For more upscale apparel the mall boasts Talbots, Anne Taylor, Banana Republic, Lucky Brand Jeans, Soma Intimates, and Johnston & Murphy. There are also popular home furnishing stores like Williams-Sonoma Home (one of only 11 in the U.S.), Restoration Hardware, and Pottery Barn.

For some kids' fun, take them to Build-a-Bear Workshop where they can create their own stuffed toy. Don't miss all the small kiosks spanning the aisles, selling everything from Rosetta Stone Language-Learning software, to Crocs footwear. If you need a chocolate fix, stop by Godiva Chocolatier. For the techie, explore the Apple store. Even if you don't want to buy anything, just go in to check out the cool gadgets, and talk to one of the many matching-shirt employees who are some of the friendliest and most helpful customer service people around. Across the hall from Apple is the Bose store for mind-blowing sound systems. If you're feeling stressed from all the choices, relax in Teavana, which is "Opening the Doors to Health, Wisdom and Happiness" by offering a huge selection of loose leaf tea and tea accessories.

Kenwood Towne Center is not only good for shopping, but also a fine location for a ladies night out, a date, or family dinner. Try Maggiano's Little Italy for savory Italian food (a pasta serving is enormous so ask for a box before they even bring your plate.) After you are stuffed, for dessert take a short walk next door to the Cheesecake Factory and sample literally dozens of desserts and trendy cocktails. For alighter treat, which is also good for your digestive health, check out Yagoot on the lower level for sweet frozen yogurt with an array of toppings. For something a little different, Aroma Sushi, at the exterior of the mall near Norstrom, offers healthy cuisine and sushi. And of course, there is a well-equipped food court with fast, counter service meals.

Kenwood Towne Center schedules plenty of events, as well as shopping. Williams-Sonoma offers daily cooking demonstrations and weekly classes. Pottery Barn Kids hosts a weekly book club for children, so caregivers can shop while the little ones get in some story time. In the warmer months, the mall even hosts an active Farmer's Market every Thursday in the parking lot. And if you need some exercise, the mall measures 0.9 miles around the interior corridor. It's a popular place for walkers and opens its doors early every morning.

The mall is not the only reason to visit the Kenwood area. Right across the parking lot is a spacious, multi-level Crate and Barrel, the only one in the area. Check it out for contemporary home furnishings and kitchen gadgets. Right next door is The Container Store, where you can find everything you need to organize anything. For the foodie, across Montgomery Road is Fresh Market. Come here to "Experience the Food!" This upscale, gourmet supermarket was designed with open-air, old-style European markets in mind, making a shopping trip seem like a quick vacation. Within walking distance from Fresh Market is a very large Barnes & Noble (with accompanying Starbucks), Dick's Sporting Goods, and the yummy Potbelly Sandwich Shop (definitely try A Wreck with salami, roast beef, turkey, ham, and swiss). Across Kenwood Road is Trader Joe's, the small, specialty grocery chain. Also nearby is the upscale, but relaxed, dining experience of Trio, a Cincinnati favorite for over 20 years, that serves great seafood, pizza, and steaks. And to top it all off, just south of the mall is a standalone Graeter's ice cream shop. Graeter's French Pot Ice Cream is a Cincinnati classic; the butter pecan is Oprah's favorite!
