The corner of Hollywood and Vine, once the bustling headquarters of all the Hollywood VIPs in the 1920s, remains significant in entertainment history as the foundation of the industry. Though no longer the hub of business, some notable production companies, such as Capitol Records (whose building resembles a stack of records), still occupy offices on this famed street corner. In 1958, the Walk of Fame was installed at Hollywood and Vine to pay tribute to celebrities (real and fictional characters alike), becoming one of the most recognizable sidewalks in the world. The stars at the intersection are dedicated to the moon-walking astronauts of Apollo 11. Walk farther along to gaze at the stars of entertainment icons embedded into Hollywood's sidewalk of fame. Don't be surprised if you see many of these celebrities lingering by their stars—or celebrity impersonators, at least.

Because many famed LA attractions (like Grauman's Chinese Theatre, The Pantages Theatre, Avalon, and Madame Tussaud's) lie in close proximity to the intersection, this is a great place to begin your tour of Hollywood.
