Founded in 1912, Paramount Studios is the oldest running movie studio in Hollywood, beating Universal Studios by a month. In fact, it is currently the only major movie studio still located in Hollywood, and also one of the few that admit the public on regular guided tours of the studio's back lot.
Paramount's lot is enormous, the workplace of over 5,000 people. The ornate gate at its entrance called the Bronson Gate, a citywide landmark visible from Melrose Avenue looking north up Bronson.
Those wishing to visit Paramount can take daily studio tours. The tours operate Monday through Friday. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling the studio.
