Home to more than 12,500 animals and over 500 species, Aquarium of the Pacific provides an in depth out-of-water experience. The aquarium replicates Southern California, Baja, Northern Pacific, and Tropical Pacific seascapes to display native inhabitants, giving visitors an eye-full as well as a plethora of information on conservation and preservation.

The kelp forest dwarfs passers-by, and the three-story high Blue Cavern exhibit beautifully illustrates the vastness of the ocean. Feed nectar to native Australian birds in the lorikeet forest (they will use you as a perch!), view one of the only captive, giant pacific octopi, and marvel at puffins and auklets as they dive for fish in the Diving Birds Exhibit. The touch-tanks offer an experience unrivalled by most aquariums: pet everything from stingrays to sea anemones to sharks to bat rays. Also, view live shark embryos in different stages of incubation — a remarkable sight.

Located near the famed Queen Mary Hotel, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant, and the Long Beach Convention Center, Aquarium of the Pacific provides a unique view of the natural world in the midst of many urban attractions.
