The Skirball Cultural Center presents the original exhibition Women Hold Up Half the Sky from October 27th, 2011 through May 20th, 2012. Inspired by the critically acclaimed book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide (Knopf, 2009), by Pulitzer Prize–winning journalists Nicholas D. The Balboa Island Art Walk, set for Sunday, May 20th, 2012 will feature over a mile of art and live music. The Balboa Island Artwalk is the premier showcase for talented local artists and marks the start of Balboa Island's summer season. The 2012 Artwalk will take place from 9am to 5pm along the South Bayfront Promenade of Balboa Island. Free admission.
This fine art show features artists exhibiting paintings, fine jewelry, blown glass, sculpture, and photography. Spectators will enjoy live music throughout the day.- View Event >

For the next five months, on the last Thursday of each month, Film Independent at LACMA invites you to a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Paramount Pictures that will include a double feature of movies chosen from the studio’s archives. The event will run form January 26th through May 24th, 2012.

“Child’s Play,” a photography exhibit will take to the historic walls of the Merry-Go-Round Building at the Santa Monica Pier from April 3rd to May 28th, 2012.
The “Child’s Play” exhibit explores the fun, awkward, whimsical, magical memories and moments of childhood featuring the collaboration of three local photo-artists: Ellen Freyer, Judy Raffel and Eileen Rapke.
