We've read about love stories in books, watched them on the big screen, and even seen them happen among those we know, but few can compare to West Side Story. It was over 50 years ago when the musical West Side Story made its Broadway debut, and now it's back, this time under the Palace Theatre's bright lights. Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's music will keep you spellbound as you watch the love story between Tony and Maria unfold – a love story that is powerful if unlikely in a racially and ethnically divided New York City.

The Palace Theatre was completed in 1913, and, long before opening the curtain for West Side Story, its stage was graced by many hit vaudeville shows featuring well-known stars, including Harry Houdini, George Rockwell, Irving Berlin, and Eddie Cantor, among many.

In the early 1930s, the Palace, like many other theaters in New York City, was transformed into a movie house as a result of the Great Depression. It was not until the late 1960s when the theater reverted to its original purpose — live performances. Since then, famous musicals Sweet Charity, Applause, La Cage aux Folles, Beauty and the Beast, and Aida have all been performed at the Palace Theatre.

See the revival of West Side Story to experience falling in love all over again, as well as to enjoy Palace Theatre's history and hospitality.
