Empire State Building Lighting Schedule

September 30, 2010 in News, Photos by Sarah Jones

Have you ever noticed that the Empire State Building's top tiers change colors based on the season or event? Ever wonder why, or what the color represents? The colors chosen to match seasonal and other events, such as St. Patrick's Day, Christmas, Independence Day or Bastille Day. The first light to shine atop the Empire State Building was in 1932 to tell people for 50 miles that Franklin D. Roosevelt has been elected president of the United States.

Tonight, the three tiers of the Empire State Building will light up pink and white in honor of the Estée Lauder Companies' Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. For the entire schedule lighting, visit: www.esbnyc.com
