Music With A View is a FREE music festival devoted to the discovery of new, fresh sound created and performed by contemporary musicians. Each event features the works of 2-3 emerging and/or mid-career composers and is followed by an open discussion between the artists and the audience.

Created in 1977 by Chuck Davis, it is the nation’s first festival devoted to African dance and has become one of the largest celebrations of its kind—uniting dancers the world over to celebrate the cultural vitality of Africa and its diaspora. - Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Winter/Spring Season: January 10 – June 3, 2012

Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, announced programming for the BAM 2012 Winter/Spring Season, which runs from January 10th through June 3rd, 2012. The season comprises nine theater, dance, and nouveau cirque engagements and features BAMcinématek series, BAMcafé Live weekend music events, artist talks, visual art exhibitions, and literary events.

The Open Air Street Fair on Crosby Street hosted by Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, is set to take place on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 starting at 10am. This festive, all-day shopping bazaar takes place on the quaint cobblestone Crosby Street outside of the Bookstore Cafe. Thousands of donated books, records, and CDs will be sold for $1 apiece, plus clothing, shoes and accessories from Housing Works Thrift Shops, great snacks from our cafe and music from local bands.
