Macy's 85th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade is fun for the whole family, featuring many actors, actresses, and musical guests. There's no better way to kick off the holiday season than by taking in the sights and sounds of perhaps the most famous parade on Earth. The upcoming parade is scheduled for Thursday, November 24th, 2011.
Every year, the Parade is seen by more than 3 million people who line the streets of New York and another 50 million people who tune into NBC to watch the giant balloons, one-of-a-kind floats, the nation's best marching bands, hundreds of cheering clowns and a host of celebrities!
The 2-mile route will once again head south on 7th Avenue, but it may be the last time the parade marches through Times Square! “Mark your calendar! The parade route will change in 2012,” states Macy’s website. The parade begins at 77th Street & Central Park West at 9am, and ends up at 7th Avenue & 34th Street - Herald Square.
The best viewing areas are: Central Park West on the west side of street from 70th Street to Columbus Circle & east side of street from 70th to 65th, Columbus Circle on the west side of street, 7th Avenue between 58th & 42nd Streets, 42nd Street from 7th to 6th Avenues, 6th Avenue between 42nd & 34th Streets, and 34th Street on the south side of street between Broadway & 7th Avenue.
