Many people head to the beach to try Oahu's premier extreme sport, surfing, but if you're looking for something new and adrenaline-pumping, look no further than skydiving. Hawai'i is not only a popular location for expert skydivers to become licensed, but also a popular choice of world film crews. Imagine taking in the breathtaking views of Oahu's beaches, mountains, and valleys 14,000 feet off the ground, dropping at over 100 miles per hour.

Several skydiving companies operate on the island. The following establishments offer the best programs, equipment, and customer service as well as premier locales.

Recommended Skydiving Companies:

Skydive Hawai'i - Skydive Hawai'i is not only the island's oldest skydiving company, but also one of its most popular. Over 150,000 people have taken their first tandem jumps with the company. What separates Skydive Hawai'i from the competition is a commitment to safety and the environment. The Cessna Caravan planes have a lower carbon footprint compared to a twin engine, and display custom artwork designed by local artist Ron Artis. Soaring high above the clouds, skydivers are treated to views of Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, Kaena Point, the North Shore coastline as well as other Hawaiian islands during clear weather. DVDs and photographs are provided at an additional cost to preserve your memories, and special group rates are available. Reservations are available both online and over the phone. Transportation from Waikiki hotels is offered at 7am, 10am and 1pm, and instructors are licensed by the United States Parachute Association. Location: 68-760 Farrington Hwy, #1 Dillingham Airfield Mokuleia, Oahu, Phone: 808-637-9700, Website: www.skydivehawaii.com

Pacific Skydiving Center - Pacific Skydiving Center distinguishes itself from other skydiving companies in Hawai'i by providing the fastest-climbing, highest altitude and most freefall time for a longer and more thrilling skydiving experience. The center utilizes a new state of the art PAC-750 aircraft that provides views of the entire island of Oahu: the North Shore beneath you, Kaena Point to the northwest, Pearl Harbor to the southeast, and even beyond to Diamond Head. PSC features licensed, United States Parachute Association expert instructors and tandem masters. Transportation is provided from Waikiki from 7am to 7:30am. Online reservations are processed within one hour, and Pacific Skydiving Center provides professional custom video and/or photography of your experience to share with family and friends. Location: 68-760 Farrington Hwy Dillingham Airfield Waialua, HI, Phone: 808-637-7472, Website: www.pacific-skydiving.com
