The North Shore of Oahu is home to the most famous waves in the world. Ehukai may be a quality beach park in its own right, blessed with soft sand and a blazing sun, but the real draw is in the wintertime, watching the epic tubes that give Pipeline its name. When Pipeline is cranking, the interaction between surfer and nature is spectacular to see. The surf is so close to the shore, it is almost like having V.I.P. seats to the Superbowl. Pipeline's waves are steep and powerful, forming over a shallow reef, and it is not unusual to watch a pro surfer get closed out, or seriously injured. Make sure to obey all signs posted for swimming, and please surf only if you are a professional.
Pipeline is the site of many surf competitions; including the renowned Vans Triple Crown World Cup. Be sure to watch for Kelly Slater and Sunny Garcia tearing it up.
Facilities at Ehukai Beach include restrooms, picnic area, phones, and lifeguards.
