Dole Plantation Hawai'i is the complete pineapple experience. Located in central Oahu in the town of Wahiawa, it is the perfect rest stop before driving toward the beaches on the North Shore. The first thing to do is jump aboard the Pineapple Express. This train takes riders for a two mile, twenty minute, fully narrated journey to learn about the history of pineapple in Hawai'i while taking in the gorgeous view.
The self-guided Plantation Garden Tour allows for an up-close view of various pineapples and other Hawaiian crops planted throughout eight gardens. The tour caters to almost every sense; visitors can see, smell, touch and taste. There is even an area to plant your very own pineapple.
No visit to the Dole Plantation would be complete without a trip through the Pineapple Maze, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest. Crafted from 14,000 colorful Hawaiian plants, it spans over more than two acres and its paths measure 2.46 miles. If you can make it out of this labyrinth in record time, your name will be placed on a sign at the entrance.
