The Aloha Tower is holding a series of free 'ukulele lessons every other Thursday in the Center Atrium from 12:30pm - 1:30pm. Bring your own 'ukulele or borrow one from The Hawaiian Ukulele Company (limited supply, first come basis).
Lessons will be taught by ukulele master Gordon Mark who has performed and taught 'ukulele for over forty years. As an 'ukulele soloist, he performed at several hotels to include the Hyatt Regency-Waikiki, Kahala Hilton, Hilton Hawaiian Village, and most notably at the Moana-Surfrider Hotel at the Captain's Galley for nearly nine years. Gordon Mark has been a guest soloist with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra under maestros Robert La Marchina, Donald Johanos, and Henry Miyamura. At the request of the Honolulu Symphony, Gordon performed for world renowned composers and conductors, Maxim Shostakovich and Ahram Khachaturian. Gordon has also been heard on a national level when he did a live performance entitled "Breakfast In New York" on Fox Cable 2, and did a segment for Sesame Street. In recognition of his music, Gordon Mark received a National Endowment of the Arts award, (NEA Grant). Gordon has recorded and has several CD's on the market.
