Hawai'i is one of the greatest shopping destinations in the world, and with over 100 shops and restaurants along three blocks of Kalakaua Avenue, the Royal Hawaiian Center is the largest in Waikiki, and a destination not to be missed.

The Royal Hawaiian Center is comprised of modern, open-air buildings with four levels of shopping, dining, and entertainment. From luxury retailers like Cartier and Fendi to specialty stores selling island-made products, and everything in between, you are sure to satisfy all your shopping needs. A short escalator ride brings you to the second level and the Food Court where you can relax and refuel. While there, follow the sound of the piano to the Grove Bar and enjoy a cold beverage. Fine dining and entertainment are available at the Center, with restaurants like Wolfgang's Steakhouse and clubs such as Senor Frog's serving up savory steaks and frothy drinks nightly.

True to its name, the location of the Royal Hawaiian Center was once home to Hawaiian royalty. Known then as "Helumoa," the property was owned by Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the great granddaughter of King Kamehameha. In her will, the Princess donated all her land to the establishment of the Kamehameha Schools for the education of Hawaiian children. The Royal Hawaiian Center generates revenue for Kamehameha Schools and works to promote the preservation of Hawaiian traditions through performing arts and cultural programming. A statue honoring the Princess resides in the Royal Grove, which is the centerpiece of this shopping Mecca and the location of many cultural performances and activities like Tahitian dancing and hula lessons.

At the entrance to the Royal Grove you will find the Kaulani Heritage Room, where you can sit down your shopping bags and view colorful murals and short videos depicting the history of the Hawaiian people. Stop by the Guest Services Desk and learn more about all the experiences available at the Royal Hawaiian Center.
