Sedgley Woods Disc Golf Course - Established in 1977, Sedgley Woods Disc Golf Course is the country's second oldest disc golf course, and is located in East Fairmount Park at 33rd and Oxford Streets. Disc golf is played with an aerodynamic frisbee (a.k.a. disc).
It's a great game for people of all ages, gender and skill level, and is one of the nation's fastest growing new sports. Like golf, players win by hitting targets at structured locations and getting through the course with the fewest number of throws. You can either relax with a leisurely game or play competitively. Doubles leagues are held year-round on Thursdays. Sedgley Woods is open to the public and there are no fees. Location: Reservoir Drive 33rd and Oxford Streets, Philadelphia, PA
Edgeley Field Disc Golf Course - For the ultimate in disc-related sports, it's Ultimate Frisbee, and Edgeley Field in East Fairmount Park is the primary location in Philadelphia to find it. League sign-ups are held at the beginning of the fall, spring and summer seasons. Players are picked in a draft-style format by team captains. Additional players who have signed up to play through the Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance (pada.org), the local affiliate of the Ultimate Players Association, are also assigned to teams.
In the spring and fall seasons, highly competitive collegiate and club teams contend for the National Championship, participating in various tournaments around the country. Several Philly teams have made it to the World Games. Spectators are welcome. Location: The Cricket House West Park, 4105 Edgeley Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131
