Cricket has been popular in Philadelphia and indeed the city was the center of the "golden age" of American cricket in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. While the sport was inactive for many decades, the Philadelphia Cricket Club, originally founded in 1854, is again active.
Fairmount Park has 368 athletic fields and outdoor courts including cricket, football, rugby and tee ball fields, all of which are available for league sports, intramural games, school teams, tournaments or simply those who want to play a no-pressure, leisurely ball game. Athletic field applications apply for one-time, seasonal and tournament use.
