Floating majestically on the Camden waterfront, the USS New Jersey, one of the U.S. Navy's most celebrated battleships, overlooks the stunning Philadelphia skyline. This historic ship was built at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and launched on December 7, 1942. Commissioned for service in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, the USS New Jersey served courageous sailors for almost 50 years until its final decommission in 1991and reopened as a museum and memorial honoring her rich history and distinguished career in October 2001.
