To honor Polish immigrants and to protect and showcase Polish culture and history, the Polish American Cultural Center was founded in 1981. It contains a treasure of Polish artifacts and catalogs the traditions that the immigrants brought to America, from Pisanki (painted Easter eggs) to decorative wooden plates.
Exhibits feature famous Poles, both American and foreign, including Pope John Paul II, Marie Curie, Nicholas Copernicus (whose given name was Mikolaj Kopernik), composers Fryderyk Chopin and Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
The Exhibit Hall is open admission free to the general public 300 days a year and promotes public awareness and appreciation of Polish history and culture.
The Center hosts meetings, lectures and other events to promote public awareness and appreciation of Polish heritage.
