Originally the estate of Christine and Adolph Rosengarten, Sr., head of the pharmaceutical company Rosengarten and Sons, Chanticleer Garden opened to the public in 1993. Its glorious array of vibrant wildflowers, breathtaking water gardens, and mystical vines twirling in and out of every crevice will take you far away from the worries of everyday life. Chanticleer's pairing of plants with different textures and colors transforms a simple garden into a delicate work of art. Its coupling of the fragile and tropical with the strong and robust makes for some original combinations. This peaceful oasis also includes lovely orchards of flowering trees in the spring and a woodland garden with Asian groundcovers leading to a delightful water garden.

Located in the Philadelphia suburb of Wayne, the garden also features three designated picnic areas, with painters welcome to set up an ply their craft on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. A variety of homemade chairs, benches, and bridges are scattered throughout the garden, further adding to its unique character. Guided tours of the house and garden are available for groups of 10 or more, conducted only by reservation.
