Brandywine Ballet’s traditional presentation of The Nutcracker runs December 9th - 18th, 2011 at the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall in West Chester, PA (all performance days and times are listed below). The holiday favorite is one of several arts and cultural reasons for area residents to make Chester County part of their celebration this year. In its 32nd year of production, Brandywine Ballet’s run of The Nutcracker continues to play to sold-out audiences each December, attracting and retaining new fans from across the Greater Philadelphia region. In 2011, the company has added two additional performances to satisfy growing public demand for tickets!
The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet, which follows young Clara as she is transported from a humorous, whimsical family holiday party in Victorian England to the enchanted and splendid Land of the Sweets. Audiences will marvel as Toy Soldiers and Mice ballet fiercely, the Sugar Plum Fairy reigns, and an all-ages cast of over 80 dancers and actors create pure balletic magic. Comical high jinx, lavishly genteel romance, antique decors, and picturesquely animated action make Brandywine Ballet’s The Nutcracker a roller coaster of colorful intensity and emotions for the whole family. The Nutcracker, a long-running holiday tradition for ballet companies across the country, is sure to delight. Greater Philadelphia audiences are invited to experience the unique charm of Brandywine Ballet’s long-running production.
