The dominant mall on the East Coast, King of Prussia is located in the township of Upper Marion, about 15 minutes outside the immediate city of Philadelphia via the Pennsylvania Turnpike. What began in 1963 as an unassuming shopping complex with a JC Penney and ACME at its core, KOP has matured into one of the country's most frequented shopping arenas with over 400 upscale shops and department stores -- including Macy's, Strawbridge's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, and Bloomingdale's. About a quarter of all shoppers here are tourists, while the rest tend to be upper class, well-to-do residents of the prominent Main Line neighborhood.

Obviously shoes, apparel, and accessories are abundant, but also specialty stores selling Swarovski crystal, fancy dog houses, elite shaving kits, customized gifts, and pricey tobacco. Store categories span the fields of luggage, home goods, eyewear, kids' stuff, electronics, beauty products, art galleries, and even cellular, travel, or financial services. Bebe, Coach, DSW Shoes, Juicy Couture, Old Navy, Stuart Weitzman, Hermes, H&M, Louis Vuitton, David Yurman, Zales, Cole Haan, J. Crew, Aldo, Montblanc, Urban Outfitters, Bose, and the Apple Store are just a few of the plethora of shops featured at King of Prussia. The mall literally has every single store imaginable. And if you're wondering about Gucci and Michael Kors, well, fear not -- they're coming soon.

Comprised of several major multi-level segments -- including the Pavilion and the Perimeter in multiple buildings known as the Plaza and the Court -- this mall is much more than one endless shopping opportunity after another. If you've got time for fine dining, there are numerous restaurants serving up Surf n' Turf, such as Fox and Hound or Morton's Steakhouse. Bennigan's and Cheesecake Factory offer alternative mid-range meals, while Godiva Chocolatier, Harry & David, Mrs. Fields Cookies can satisfy any shopper's sweet tooth.

And in case you couldn't find a specific item on your list, nearby is a Wal-Mart, Costco Wholesale, Toys "R" Us, and even a colossal IMAX theater.
