The Pacific Northwest conjures images of unspoiled nature, lush green hills, and forests as far as the eye can see – as well as rain and gray skies that can dominate the climate for months. But with the wet winters come beautiful, temperate, and sunny summers that locals squeeze for all they are worth. So it is no surprise that Portland plays host to just about every outdoor event that can be hosted. From baseball to soccer, from surfing to disc golf, you can find them all here, and not just in the sun. Even in the gloom, the moderate temperatures let the locals hike, play kickball, or even ski on Mt. Hood. Year round, rain or shine, people in Portland like to get out.
