How long has it been since you really enjoyed nature? Since you took the time not only to smell the pine trees, but also to fall sleep among them? Luckily, you are in (or are about to be in) San Diego, and this means you have full access to the San Diego Mountain range, home of Lake Cuyamaca, one of the most scenic and relaxing spots in the county.

Take advantage of Cuyamaca’s 40 RV sites, or pitch a tent right next to the lake. The “Rainbow Rendezvous” and “Racoon Hollow” cabins are available to rent, and are big enough for the whole family. Nature is waiting to entertain, and Lake Cuyamaca’s Rancho State Park has 26,000 acres of options. Hiking, tubing, bird watching, and of course, fishing is available.

Lake Cuyamaca guarantees the fish will be biting, but if you need some help, ask the Ranger for the “secret spot.” And if shopping is your relaxation remedy, nearby historic Julian provides some pleasant options.
