As you crest the hill overlooking Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista's Brengle Terrace Park, the spicy medicinal smell of the surrounding Eucalyptus robs the tension from your mind. Seats are cradled into the gentle concavity of the hillside, reminiscent of the ancient Greek amphitheatres on which Moonlight was modeled. Families use the hillside to enjoy an open-air picnic, adding greatly to the inviting and relaxed atmosphere.
Moonlight Stage Productions takes full advantage of San Diego's outdoor-friendly climate to present its summer series of musicals at Moonlight Amphitheatre. The amphitheater has operated since 1975, when the Vista Foundation built it in celebration of America's bicentennial. The year 2009 will see the amphitheatre newly upgraded for the summer musical season. It will be available for private rental starting in October.
