- Revelers and world culture buffs can take part in the San Diego Museum of Man’s Oktoberfest Tower After Hours celebration on Thursday, October 27th, 2011 from 6-8pm. Come join the merriment featuring a taste of all things German as part of an ongoing series focusing on San Diego’s vibrant and diverse communities. This colorful celebration of German culture will showcase an array of regional food and drinks, thanks to the German American Societies of San Diego, the House of Germany, and La Jolla Brew House, and pay tribute to the spectacular performing arts of this country.

MCASD has commissioned Jennifer Steinkamp to create a new work for MCASD Downtown’s Joan and Irwin Jacobs Building on display from January 23rd through February 5th, 2012. Entitled Madame Curie, this new commission is inspired by Steinkamp’s recent research into atomic energy, atomic explosions, and the effects of these forces on nature. Marie Curie was the recipient of two Nobel Prizes for creating the theory of radioactivity, and discovering radium and polonium. She was also an avid gardener and lover of flowers. - View Event >

Taste of San Diego Craft Brews celebrates the rich history of brewing in San Diego and recognizes local breweries that are making an impact on the national craft brewing community. The upcoming Taste of San Diego Craft Brews will take place on Saturday, February 18th, 2012 at the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park.
