  • Description: Adams Avenue Roots & Folk Festival is a free two-day extravaganza focusing on the promotion, preservation and performance of local and nationally touring musical acts. The genres highlighted include the rich traditions of music styles such as Folk, Old Time String Bands, Cowboy, Cajun, Rockabilly, Roots-blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Roots Rock, Honky-tonk, etc.

  • Description: San Diego Brazil Carnival is an authentic celebration put on by Copa Airlines and Brazilian Promotions each year. Dance non-stop to the pulsating rhythms of samba, marcha, Axe music, and batucada.

  • Description: With its proximity to Mexico, San Diego is a natural for putting on a great Cinco de Mayo party, and from downtown to Old Town, Fiesta Cinco de Mayo offers a celebration of Latino arts, culture, history and diversity. With several stages featuring live Mariachi music, lots of street color including native dress and dance, activities center mostly around Old Town State Historic Park, although this holiday is celebrated throughout San Diego and admission is free.

  • Description: Science fiction and fantasy fans don't need to look to another galaxy, when all things mysterious and inexplicable are to be discovered at Conjecture, the annual San Diego convention devoted to science-fiction and fantasy, with a focus on literature, and a different theme each year. The event was established in 2002 and has been held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, featuring gaming, art, media, science and societal issues.

  • Description: The San Diego annual EarthFair in Balboa Park is the largest free annual environmental fair in the world with over 70,000 visitors each year! Made possible by 400 volunteers, EarthFair features more than 200 exhibitors, special theme areas, a food pavilion, a special kids activity area, five entertainment venues, the children's earth parade (all species welcome), and an alternative fuel vehicle parade and show.

  • Description: Hosted by the German American Societies of San Diego, the two-weekend festival El Cajon Oktoberfest includes authentic German food, and a fantastic selection of German beers and liquors. In fact, authentic is the name of the game, as the entertainment is also frequently direct from Germany, performing music you would hear in the beer gardens there. The event includes a keg tapping ceremony, authentic German food, pastries, soft drinks, beer and liquor, live music and folk dancing, children's activities, crafts vendors and assorted entertainers.

  • Description: The Encanto Cultural Arts Festival, founded in 1992, has become one of California's premier outdoor multicultural street festivals. It is held along three blocks on Imperial Avenue between 65th and 68th Streets, and showcases San Diego's diversity through food, music, art and entertainment.

  • Description: If you ever have forgotten which way to set your clock in the Fall, the Fallback Festival in the Gaslamp Quarter will help you properly commemorate the official end of daylight savings time. The event includes the historic Children's Street Fair, the world's only festival that celebrates history by falling back.

  • Description: The historic port of San Diego Bay is a fitting location for the annual Festival of Sail at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. The event showcases more than 20 tall ships and other historic and unique vessels from around the world, and is hosted by the Maritime Museum of San Diego. The event spans five days and includes ship tours, pirate cannon battles and re-enactments, as well as souvenirs, food, and drink stalls.
