Not to be mistaken for an actual fair, San Diego's largest indoor mall, the North County Fair, provides 1.2 million square feet of retail shops dispersed over three stories, but is still somehow effortless to navigate. Its two wings converge at a large, central, open area with twisting escalators and a glass elevator illuminated by numerous skylights. Various events occur in this space year round, such as book signings, radio contests, and fashion shows.
The mall itself is known for its four main anchors: Macy's, JC Penney, Nordstrom, and Sears, each spanning over 140,000 square feet. The additional 190 stores range from trendy clothing shops like H&M and Forever 21 to high-tech stories like the Apple Store. An extensive food court sits on the third floor, with restaurants such as Red Robin and BJ's adjacent as well.
North County Fair is exceptionally family oriented for a mall of its size and type. The food court includes a family lounge, featuring baby changing stations, private nursing areas, a large playground area for the young visitors, and family parking for expectant mothers and those with toddlers. Strollers and wheelchairs are also available for rent.
