The Rip Curl Pro Search is the only event on the ASP World Tour with a floating license, allowing it to move to a new location each year. The event runs from November 1st - 12th, 2011, a twelve-day waiting period with four full days of competition (27.5 hours total, based on 30 minute heats). As surf and weather can be unpredictable, the waiting period is designed to ensure the best opportunity for good surf and conditions for the world’s greatest surfers. Stairway 18-20 will be the primary site for the event window. There is potential to move to our secondary site, Kelly’s Cove at Stairway 1, only if the surf, conditions and or sand bars (which makes the wave take better shape) are much better than the main site.
The Top 34 surfers compete on the ASP World Tour and two event wildcards round out the 36-man field. The nation’s Top 16 junior surfers will also be there to contest the Rip Curl Gromsearch National Final. For more information, visit: live.ripcurl.com/index.php?Search2011LocalInfo
