San Francisco Black Film Festival: June 17-19, 2011
Posted in: Upcoming Events
Come celebrate The San Francisco Black Film Festival from this Friday June 17th through Sunday June 19th, 2011 in the Filmore District. SFBFF was founded with the artistic vision to provide a platform for Black filmmakers, screenwriters, and actors to present their art. As a competitive film festival, SFBFF identifies filmmakers, screenwriters, and actors that are emerging as talents and established artists who are contributing to the cinematic legacy of African Americans. SFBFF conscientiously expands the notions of "Black film-making" to a global perspective. Hence, film submissions are accepted worldwide from filmmakers and screenwriters who are of African descent or feature actors representing the African Diaspora. SFBFF is managed by a dedicated advisory board of 15 artists, business people, film industry and other professionals.
SFBFF has presented 12 annual festivals featuring over 1,100 films including features, documentaries, and shorts. The festival continues to serve as a bridge between worlds, forging cultural connections by presenting universal themes from filmmakers around the globe. The festival will keep on being San Francisco's platform for local and international filmmakers to showcase their diverse, array of cinematic works, which serve to encourage a positive image of the African-American and those of the African cultural diaspora.
Prices are as follows: $10 per screening block; $35 day pass; $85 festival pass. The festival is located with the Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Parade in the Fillmore district, San Francisco. For more information, visit: www.sfbff.org/index.html
