Every city has its requisite 5K runs, but probably not too many encourage entrants to dress as furry household pets in support of local animal shelters. If running isn’t your thing, go on a coffee-crawl or peruse the Northwest Folk Festival with its variety of traditional, ethnic, and folk arts, crafts, and music. Possibilities abound in Seattle, where you’re not alone if you feel like making your own flotation device out of plastic milk cartons and setting sail on Green Lake.
