  • The 11th annual National Book Festival, organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress, will become a two-day event this year. The festival will be held on the National Mall between 9th and 14th Streets on Saturday, September 24th, from 10am - 5:30pm and on Sunday, September 25th, 2011 from 1-5:30pm, rain or shine. The event is free and open to the public. Several festival-related events will take place in the weeks preceding the beloved yearly festival, which celebrates the joys of books and reading.

  • Join Potomac Conservancy for the 4th annual Potomac River Jam - a full-day celebration of the natural beauty, culture, and history of the Potomac River and C&O Canal - taking place on Sunday, October 16th, 2011. The morning will begin with a sampling of this summer's most popular nature walks at Lock 8, including a bird walk, bug walk and medicinal plant walk. In the afternoon, the melodies of local musicians will fill the air with songs from a variety of musical genres.
