In honor of the 70th Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Wednesday, December 7th, 2011, the United States Navy Memorial will host a series of events, including a special “Authors on Deck” book lecture, official wreath laying ceremony and panel discussion.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian celebrates Menominee Nation Cultural Day, with traditional song, dance, drumming and storytelling Saturday, December 10th, 2011, from 11am - 2pm.
For thousands of years, the Menominee tribe has made its home in the region now known as Wisconsin, as well as parts of Michigan and Illinois, where it once occupied an estimated 10 million acres. - This fall, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design will present 30 Americans, a wide-ranging survey of works by many of the most important African American contemporary artists of the last three decades. By bringing seminal artistic figures together with younger and emerging artists, the exhibition explores artistic influence across generations and sheds light on issues of racial, sexual and historical identity.
