  • The Washington Convention and Sports Authority and race organizers announced that the 2011 USA CRIT Series Finals will be held in the nation’s capital on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 at the Capital Criterium presented by the Washington Convention and Sports Authority on Pennsylvania Avenue, also known as America’s Main Street. The USA CRITS Series comprises the nation’s top 10 professional cycling criteriums. Criteriums are a uniquely American style of bike racing. What NASCAR is to automobile racing, criteriums are to bike racing.

  • The Military Bowl, Washington DCThe DC Bowl will include a United States service academy as the Air Force Falcons (7-5) from the Mountain West Conference (MWC) have accepted an invitation to play at RFK Stadium on December 28th, 2011 in Washington, D.C. Air Force will host the Toledo Rockets (8-4) from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in a match-up that will air live on ESPN at 4:30 p.m. EST. The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman has been held in Washington, D.C.’s historic RFK Stadium since 2008. The 2011 Military Bowl marks the fourth year that Washington, D.C. will host a post-season NCAA football game.

  • Sculpture Garden Ice Rink at the National Gallery of Art Opens November 19th, 2011

  • Starting November 19th, 2011, The Sculpture Garden's Ice-Skating Rink will reopen for its 13th winter season. The rink allows patrons the opportunity to skate amongst famous art and partake in tasty hot chocolate from the garden's cafe. Located on the National Mall at 7th Street and Constitution Avenue NW, the ice rink is a favorite destination, attracting thousands of visitors to skate in the nation's capital. The skating surface, which measures approximately 135 feet long and 90 feet wide, can accommodate more than 200 skaters at a time.
