The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History will display Thomas Jefferson’s The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, a remarkable document from the early 19th century. Living at Monticello in retirement following his two terms as President, Jefferson assembled a private text in 1820, often referred to as “The Jefferson Bible.” Cutting excerpts from four translations—English, French, Latin and Greek—of the Four Gospels, Jefferson sought to tell a chronological and distilled version of Jesus’ life and moral teachings.- View Event >

Japan Spring celebrates the first time that a city outside Japan is hosting three concurrent exhibitions of masterworks by distinguished Edo-period artists. On view in the nation's capital this spring are "Masters of Mercy: Buddha's Amazing Disciples" (March 10–July 8, 2012) and "Hokusai: 36 Views of Mount Fuji" (March 24–June 17, 2012) at the Smithsonian's Arthur M. X-Ray Vision: Fish Inside Out will be on display at The National Museum of Natural History from February 4th - August 5th, 2012. It features the X-ray images Smithsonian scientists use to better understand Earth’s underwater ecosystems. Visitors will be able to share in the beauty, biology and diversity of 40 breathtaking images. Specimens include such marvels as the winghead shark, a pancake batfish, a bulbous deep sea angler and an ox-eyed oreo as well as the mysterious coelacanth, a prehistoric fish thought to have gone extinct alongside the dinosaurs until it was rediscovered in 1938.- View Event >

NoMa Summer Screen is a free, weekly, outdoor film series featuring local BBQ, music and fun activities. Join them this summer for 2012: The End of the World? As a spoof on doomsday prophesies marking the end of the Mayan calendar, this year’s series features films that deal with world-ending scenarios. The upcoming season will run from May 23rd through August 8th, 2012.

- "AirCraft: The Jet as Art" Opens at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum: Opens November 25, 2011

- “AirCraft: The Jet as Art” opens at the National Air and Space Museum on November 25th, 2011 and will be on display for one year. The exhibition will feature 33 super-sized photographic archival-pigment prints that transform aviation technology into fine art. A photographer and pilot, Jeffrey Milstein captures speeding aircraft as they are about to land and creates crisp images that highlight the design, color and symmetry of his subjects. Milstein uses photographic post-processing techniques and neutral backgrounds to focus attention on the elegance, colors and form of each aircraft.
