National Symphony Orchestra Concert at the U.S. Capitol: September 4, 2011: The National Symphony Orchestra celebrates the beginning of its 2011–2012 season with its annual Labor Day Capitol Concert featuring new NSO Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke in Legends of Washington Music, a musical tribute to John Philip Sousa, "Duke" Ellington, and Chuck Brown, the "Godfather of Go-Go." The National Symphony Orchestra Concert at the U.S. Capitol will be held Sunday, September 4th, 2011 at 8pm. This is a free event & no tickets are required. Abbey Road on the River: September 1 - 5, 2011: North America’s largest and longest running Beatles ® Tribute Festival, Abbey Road on the River (AROTR), will return to the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center from September 1st – 5th, 2011, bringing more than 50 bands from around the world to National Harbor. Beatles fans will enjoy several classically arranged shows from D.C.’s Voce Chamber Singers and The Washington Saxophone Quartet, as well as a special performance by acclaimed soprano Alessandra Marc. 73rd Annual Old Towne Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade: September 5, 2011: The City of Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department celebrate the unofficial end of summer with the 73rd Annual Labor Day Parade Monday, September 5, 2011 at 1 p.m. The parade features an assortment of high school marching bands, costumed characters, cars and fire engines, horses, clowns, and more, winding through East Diamond and Russell Avenues in Olde Towne Gaithersburg.
