With an all around excellent atmosphere, an outdoor patio which is great for nice days, and a great selection of beer on tap, Bourbon is great almost any time, not just the weekends. The bartenders are very friendly, and drink prices are reasonable. Bourbon has a huge list of whiskeys, single and double malts, scotches, and of course, bourbons. But that's not all it has, Bourbon even has a great selection of comfort foods such as hamburgers, soups and grilled cheese.

  • Description: Degrees Bar & Lounge brings a little bit of New York to DC. Be prepared to feel fabulous. With a great sheik decor, a hip atmosphere, and even big comfy chairs next to a fireplace to relax and sip your drinks, Degrees Bar & Lounge is among the most classy bars in DC. The service here is superb, as is the glassware. If you've never drank a martini in a crystal glass before, you're in for something new. If you're feeling adventurous, try a Zentini. Think Cosmo with Saki instead of Vodka. Since it is more upscale than your average bar, be prepared to spend a little more here.

  • Description: Very highly rated Matchbox in Chinatown features modern decor, great atmosphere, hip environment, and great food and drinks. The environment gets very lively, loud and crowded so be prepared. Try the 3.6.9 mini burgers, they are among the best. If you're a pizza fan, the brick oven does wonders. As said by may DC locals, Matchbox has the best Pizza in the area. The desert is also fantastic.

  • Description: With a very chill, relaxed and warm environment, The Pug is one of the best local neighborhood bars in the H Street area. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the food is great. But wait, the service is better. The bartenders are known as the most friendly bartenders in the area. But be ware, if you're heading to the Pug because you like little cute pugs, think again. The Pug was a boxer, not a dog.

  • The Red Derby

  • Description: Hands down one of the best local bars in the District. With a huge selection of reasonably priced beers (about 25 total), the Red Derby definitely knows how to please their patrons. They keep the price down ($2, $3 beers) by serving only cans, which in the end is almost more refreshing anyway. They also have various weekly specials such as Tom Collins Tuesday, where you can get one for just $4. Try the potato fries here, they're amazing. Even practice a little pool for just a $1 a game. But beware, there is no sign out front, so when heading to the Red Derby keep your eyes peeled.

  • Toledo Lounge

  • Description: A great place if you just want to chill out and drink a few beers with your friends. Toledo Lounge offers $2 drafts during happy hour (Yuengling, Toledo Hefe, Sierra Nevada), and has great Sunday happy hour specials. Their food is also great, try the grilled cheese, it's a favorite among locals. This bar does get a bit crowded at peak times, so try to keep your group intimate.

  • Description: Known for their large patio and happy hour specials, the Wonderland Ballroom has great service, great food and a fun atmosphere. They have a great selection of beer from many domestic droughts to Stella, Hoegaarden, and Guinness. The DJ is excellent, and during nights the 2nd floor turns into a dance club.
